The Master of Arts in Creative Communications at HKU brings together advanced creative practice, professional development, and critical research in media and communication. Designed for students who want both to make work and to understand the cultural, technological, and institutional contexts in which it circulates, the programme develops rigorous analytical skills alongside practical expertise in storytelling, writing, digital media, film, performance, publishing, and strategic communication.
Through research-informed teaching, workshops, and interdisciplinary collaboration, students examine how contemporary media shape public culture, creative industries, and everyday life. They also develop a substantial body of original work: a professional portfolio and an individual capstone project that may take the form of creative practice, applied research, or a critically informed intervention in a chosen field.
MACC prepares graduates to contribute thoughtfully and effectively to the evolving media landscape—as creative practitioners, communications professionals, researchers, cultural producers, and critical thinkers.
