Applications are invited for appointment as Professor/Associate Professor on tenure terms or Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in English Literary Studies (the Long Nineteenth Century) in the School of English (Ref. 524440), to commence on September 1, 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter. Appointment as Assistant Professor will be made on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.
The position is open to literary scholars (open rank) working in the Long Nineteenth Century. Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in a relevant discipline, a proven track record, and be prepared to teach and supervise at the B.A., M.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. levels. Special consideration will be given to candidates who also have interest or expertise in Digital Humanities.
The School of English offers an integrated programme in English Studies, including undergraduate teaching and supervision of research students in English and American Literatures, World Literature in English, English Linguistics, World Englishes, Sociolinguistics, Discourse Analysis, and Language and the Law. The School contributes to the teaching of the B.A. & B.Ed. in Language Education (English) and the B.A. & L.L.B. double degree programmes.
