PROFILE

Ms. Kan Chi Poon is a contemporary artist and currently an Assistant Lecturer at the School of English, the University of Hong Kong. She holds an MA in Fine Arts from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and a BA in Applied and Media Arts from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Her teaching focuses on aesthetics, curatorship, visual analysis, and artistic creation, and she is committed to the integration of theory and practice. Ms. Poon specializes in applying cognitive aesthetics theory, approaching various topics from the perspective of contemporary art and critical thinking. She inspires students to explore material forms, discover their own strengths, and capture moments of creative insight. She is also adept at using interdisciplinary methods and a variety of visual expressions, such as photography, video, interactive media, installation art, and mixed media creation, to guide students in realizing the concrete presentation of their personal creativity and expanding their artistic vision and depth of thinking.

Ms. Poon's artwork “Liquid Memory” (2008 - present) is a combination of painting and experimental short film. In her paintings, she uses immersive, colorful layers of paint on a large canvas to capture time, emotions, and memories. In her short films, she translates these emotions and the rhythmic flow of colors into a digital, dynamic, experimental short video loop.
