Establishment of the Falling Leaves Foundation Prize in Cross-Cultural Studies in English/English Literary Studies

With the generous support of the Falling Leaves Hong Kong Foundation, the Falling Leaves Foundation Prize in Cross-Cultural Studies in English/English Literary Studies was established in the academic year 2010-11. The prize shall be awarded annually to a full-time final-year BA student who has achieved the best academic performance in the field of Cross-Cultural Studies in English or English Literary Studies offered by the School of English in a given academic year.

The mission of the Foundation is to promote understanding between the East and the West and to provide funds for the study of China's history, language and culture. To this end, Dr. Adeline Yen Mah, the Founder and President of the Foundation has started the website "Chinese Character A Day"
(www.chinesecharacteraday.com) to teach mandarin Chinese to anyone who wishes to learn, recognize, type, pronounce, and write Chinese characters via an interactive online platform.

Dr. Adeline Yen Mah (centre), the Founder and President of the Falling Leaves Foundation, together with the Board members of the Foundation, present the donation to Dr. Otto Heim and Dr. Q.S. Tong for the establishment of the prize.
