Admission Requirement to Courses Offered by the School of English

A minimum Level 5 in English Language HKDSE exam, or an equivalent score in another recognized English proficiency test. Non-JUPAS candidates are required to submit the qualification of any recognized English proficiency test to the School Office (via email to tamix@hku.hk) for consideration before they have made the course selection online.

Declaration of Majors and Minors

Year 1 is a year of exploration for HKU freshmen. Prospective major and minor students are advised to take at least one List A introductory course in Year 1 in order to be eligible for declaring a major/ minor in Year 2.

Non-BA students from other disciplines are also welcome to become our major and minor students.

2. Programme Requirements of Language and Communication
