Charlotte Xiaoqian CAI has degrees from Shanghai International Studies University (BA), the University of Leicester (MA) and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (PhD). She just completed her PhD thesis which examines the poetry and art of Christina Rossetti and Dante Gabriel Rossetti. Her research interests lie in Victorian studies, especially the Pre-Raphaelites and the interplay between Victorian poetry and art. She attended Victorian Transformations Conference in May 2023 and gave a talk on the topic of ‘Dante Gabriel Rossetti’s Developing Reflections on Death in The House of Life’. In BAVS (The British Association for Victorian Studies) 2023 Conference, she gave a talk on the topic of ‘The Interplay of Religious and Secular love in Christina Rossetti’s Sonnet Sequence Monna Innominata’.
