Student interns’ sharing One of the most unforgettable moments of this internship is when I saw the book catalogues printed out and I was told … that those catalogues will be distributed in the book fair in Beijing. I spent 2 days making up book information on computers and finally my work was accepted and being used. That fulfillment is indescribable. -- Sandy Cheung Sui Ching, intern with Hong Kong University Press marketing department, summer 2011
For a BA student who lacks working experience, the internship in the marketing department of HKUP is valuable to me on the grounds that it provided diversified tasks for me to try.-- Sandy Cheung Sui Ching, intern with Hong Kong University Press marketing department, summer 2011
My experience at the HKU Press, where I worked for both editorial and marketing departments, was challenging yet amazing. The chance to get involved in publishing a book as well as interacting with other experienced staff at the HKU Press was undeniably an unparalleled opportunity. As mentioned, it granted me insights to the job nature of an editor and marketing director. I used to think that my language skills were good enough for me to work in this field. The experience made me realize how ignorant I was when it came to the nature of this job. This would not stop me from pursuing my career goal, though. The deeper understanding of the job nature of this profession has made me find this job more attractive. The experiences have undeniably made my intention to enter the profession stronger. … -- Silky Mok Hiu Nam, intern with Hong Kong University Press editorial department, summer 2011
I am glad that I had this amazing experience which instilled me with practical knowledge and skills related to the publishing industry. I am sure that they will be very useful for my future career. Needless to say, I would highly recommend the internship to those who want to get themselves prepared before entering the field. -- Silky Mok Hiu Nam, intern with Hong Kong University Press editorial department, summer 2011
