Tenure-track Assistant Professor in English Literary Studies (Ref.: 201301157)

Applications are invited for appointment as Assistant Professor in English Literary Studies in the School of English of the Faculty of Arts, from September 1, 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal. An appointee with demonstrated excellence and contribution will be considered for tenure towards the end of the second three-year contract.

The search is open to scholars in literary and cultural studies in English, with special interests in one or several of the following areas: modern or contemporary literature, drama, creative writing, literary history. Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in literary studies, an active research record and relevant teaching experience, and be prepared to teach and supervise at the B.A., M.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. levels. A globally competitive remuneration package commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience will be offered, as well as annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
